Hereā€™s my answer: He doesnā€™t. First of all, there are no good people. Only God is good. Every human being on earth have fallen short of the grace of God.

The real question is: Why does God still love us, sinful people? Why do good things and wins, and sunny days come past us even though we are sinful and none of us are worthy in the eyes of the Lord?

Because of Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus Christ. Because of him, God came down as a humble servant, a slave, a carpenterā€™s son to a world full of proud, jealous, lustful, greedy, malicious, and sinful men. To say, ā€œMy grace is sufficient for you.ā€ When Lazarus died, Martha and Mary asked him ā€œMy brother couldā€™ve been saved if you had come earlier.ā€ And he showed, ā€œMy grace is sufficient for him even unto death.ā€ When he called the apostles, the tax collector, the sinful fisherman, the persecutor of Christians, he said ā€œCome, my grace is sufficient for youā€

God calls us and continues to call us on our downright rock bottom. In times when we feel nothing makes sense in this world. When we have completely lost ourselves. When weā€™ve lost a loved one. When all our being is decaying, dry, barren, and cold. That is where we can find Jesus.

Only the suffering are able to find Jesus. Not the ā€œgoodā€ people. Not the ā€˜deservingā€™ people. Not the ā€œqualifiedā€ people. But the suffering, the sinful, the lonely, the lost, the sick, and the dying.

Will you call Jesus when life is perfectly fine? When youā€™re healthy, and the business is good, the family is happy and thereā€™s nothing more to ask because you have it all? Do you think you can find Godā€™s grace in comfort?

A convenient school is a bad school. A convenient life is a bad teacher.

-Bishop Socrates Villegas

Jesus calls you even when lost.

Jesus calls you even if you resent yourself.

Jesus calls you when sick.

Jesus calls you when dying.

Jesus calls you when your heart swells and wails in pain.

Jesus calls you while you cry and weep and sob like a helpless and lost child.

Losing is gaining. Being lost is when you can find your true self. An Arabic proverb says, ā€œThe darkest time at night is exactly the time before the break of dawnā€

You have lost yourself. His grace is sufficient.

You lacked sleep. His grace is sufficient.

You canā€™t eat properly. His grace is suffiecient.

You cannot forgive. His grace is sufficient.

You are depressed. His grace is sufficient.

You are anxious. His grace is sufficient.

You are homosexual. His grace is sufficient.

You are a murderer. His grace is sufficient.

You are an adulterer. His grace is sufficient.

You grew up in a broken family. His grace is sufficient.

You are an atheist. His grace is sufficient.

You are sick. His grace is sufficient.

You are dying, barely breathing. His grace is sufficient.

You died. His grace is sufficient.

Because while you were still alive, He made every suffering pass you by, and now that you have passed on from this life, may you realize that His grace is sufficient eternally.

Hindi mo kaya?

Wala nang pag-asa?

Kaya ng Diyos.

His grace is always sufficient to a repentant heart.

When I lost myself. I found myself.

I found myself on a whole different version.

A better version of me was created because of suffering.
